Introducing Misool Eco Resort in remote Raja Ampat, on the private island of Batbitim. Nestled in a vast archipelago of uninhabited islands, the nearest village is a half-day away. Batbitim offers white beaches, protected by stunning clear lagoons and abundant reefs. Twelve guest cottages assure a luxurious holiday, surrounded by the world's richest reefs.
The cottages, built to European standards, artfully blend indigenous natural materials with meticulous detailing. The lumber used to build the resort has been salvaged driftwood that was milled by local tradesmen.
Eight luxurious Water Cottages rise on stilts over the placid North Bay. Each features a private veranda, with steps leading down to the house reef. Cottages are equipped with air conditioning, double bed, a massive veranda and outdoor day bed, a Balinese-style en suite bathroom, and hot water.
Four Reef View Cottages, located on the South Beach, are simple and elegant, featuring views over the deep water swimming hole. Each is fitted with an en suite bathroom.
The beach-front restaurant overlooks a shallow turquoise lagoon. The menu has been created by an internationally-trained chef to offer exceptionally tasty, nutritious, and whenever possible, organic fare from local sources.
The Dive Centre has been designed to meet the needs of professional videographers and photographers. There are separate wet and dry areas, with individual equipment stations, computer stations, a television, and a projector for viewing the day’s images. A spacious sun-deck offers spectacular top-side views.
Misool Eco Resort is strongly committed to a policy of environmental responsibility. MER has reached an agreement with the local village to create a Marine Protected Area (MPA). The area includes many of Raja Ampat's finest dive sites, including the Manta Cleaning Station, Boo, Fiabacet, Gorgonian Passage, and Yillet. Within this area, all fishing, shark finning, harvesting of turtle eggs and shellfish are strictly prohibited. Boats practice reef-safe anchoring.
The Misool Conservation Centre will be located on a small beach on the north side of the Batbitim. A UK-registered non-profit, the Conservation Centre will provide a well-equipped, functional base for scientific research and conservation projects, as well as accommodation for visiting researchers and scientists.
