| Itinerary Highlights: |
|
| DAY 1-2 - USA to Lhasa, Tibet | Fly to Hong Kong, Bangkok and finally, arrive in Lhasa, where you will be escorted to your room at the Lhasa Hotel for a welcome dinner and evening of relaxation after the long trip.
| | DAY 3-4 - Lhasa | Two full days to explore the wonders of Lhasa, including the magnificent Potala Palace, the Jokhang, Tibet's main Buddhist temple - constructed in the 7th century, and several other spectacular monasteries and temples. We'll also take time to wander the Barkor bazaar, offering an amazing and colorful variety of crafts and other Tibetan goods.
| | DAY 5-10 - Himalaya Treking | Begin a six-day trek through the lower Himalaya. We'll drive to the Ganden Monastery for a short visit, and then head to the trailhead along a dramatic river called the Gyama Chu. Your gear will be transported by horseback, leaving only personal items and snacks for your light daypack. For the next two days, we'll zigzag up the river valley, passing nomads and quiet villages, resting in fully outfitted campsites prepared along the way. Climbing through fields of Tibetan wildflowers, with yaks hardly noticing our passage, we will crest the Tseb La pass at over 17,000 feet. Enjoy a well-deserved rest day in a high valley between two rivers, and then descend through lush rhododendron forests along the Samye River, finishing the trek near the Samye Monastery, the first monastery built in Tibet.
| | DAY 11 - Tsedang | After crossing the Tsangpo River, enter the Tibetan religious center of Tsedang. Refresh yourself in your room at the Tsedang Hotel, and then spend the afternoon exploring a few of the area's sacred sites and temples.
| | DAY 12 - Tsedang to Lhasa | We'll travel overland from Tsedang, and arrive back at our rooms in the Lhasa Hotel in time for afternoon tea. Enjoy a goodbye dinner together prior to the next morning's bus trip to the airport.
| | DAY 13-14 - Depart for home! | Depart for Bangkok, Hong Kong, and U.S. destinations.
