    Borneo

The Island of Borneo is separated from Peninsular Malayasia by the South China Sea. Its two states; Sabah and Sarawak offer some of the most unique wildlife on the planet. Borneo is one of only two places on earth where Orang Utan are found. The Kinabatangan River, Sabah's longest river is home to proboscis monkeys which only live in Borneo. The islands off the coast of Sabah; Mabul and Sipidan are world premier dive sites. Sipadan, Malaysia's only oceanic island rises about 2100 feet from the ocean floor with a diverse marine life which includes; turtles, resident schools of jacks and barracudas. A precipitous reef wall just off the island plunges down 2000 feet. Also off the coast of the Sabah are Pulau Lankayan, Pulau Mabul and Pulau Kapalai which are famous for their muck diving. The southern state in Borneo - Sarawak also has some dive sites. Reef diving is found at Pulau Talang Talang as well as a protected turtle sanctuary. A World War II ship wreck Katori Maru, a Japanese troop carrier sunk by British aircraft attracts a number of large fish in particular, reef sharks.
